Pfizer、Ibm和Microsoft支持Amicore以
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Making good on a promise made in March, Pfizer Inc., IBM Corp. and Microsoft Corp. launched Amicore as a private software and services company to serve the small physician market.
Each of the three companies holds a seat on the Amicore board that will soon include seven members, Amicore President and CEO Jim Fitzsimmons told Reuters Health. Fitzsimmons owns a fourth seat on the board, while the remaining three seats should be filled before the end of the year.
In connection with the formation of Amicore, Pfizer contributed the assets of PenChart Corp., a developer of software for physicians' offices. About 300 doctors in New England now use PenChart software on a Fujitsu handheld computer, said Fitzsimmons.
IBM Corp. and Microsoft Corp. contributed undisclosed capital to the formation of the company.
"Our target market is the small, overburdened physician's group with 10 doctors or less," said Fitzsimmons. "Our biggest competitor is not another software vendor, but the traditional paper medical record." He added, "Pfizer's reach to the small physician market is unparalleled."
Amicore has hired 10 sales representatives to launch its services around the country. Working through leads developed by Pfizer sales representatives, Amicore plans to close sales of the Amicore Practice Suite, with its own staff, said Fitzsimmons.
In addition to New England, Amicore plans to market its products first in 10 major US markets, including San Francisco, Denver, Columbus, Cleveland and Florida., 百拇医药
