拜耳医药公司认为，阳痿病人的潜在发病因素和年龄因素都不会影响vardenafil药物对病人在进入阴道或完成射精方面的效力。而且，拜耳在美国匹兹堡的总部还强调，象头痛、脸红、鼻炎和消化不良等单一的影响也很小很有限。vardenafil的药理跟伟哥相似，也通过抑制5-磷酸二脂酶，使血液流向阴茎从而发挥作用。
目前vardenafil正在进行临床第三阶段的试验，公司期望可以在今年六月公布其中一份关于该药对糖尿病人的试验结果。

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Bayer Corp. reported on Friday that its drug vardenafil improved erections in 80% of patients with erectile dysfunction and helped them to complete intercourse with ejaculation.
The findings were presented at the European Association of Urology‘s annual meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
The study, conducted by the international Vardenafil Study Group, included 580 men, aged 21 to 70 years, who were in stable heterosexual relationships and had experienced difficulty achieving an erection for an average of 2.8 years. The patients received vardenafil in 5 milligram (mg), 10 mg or 20 mg doses, or an inactive placebo.
Bayer said that neither the underlying cause of the patients‘ erectile dysfunction nor their age affected the effectiveness of vardenafil in terms of either the ability to penetrate or the ability to complete intercourse with ejaculation.
Furthermore, side effects--which included headaches, flushing, nasal inflammation and indigestion--were limited and generally mild, noted Pittsburgh-based Bayer. Like Viagra, the drug works by inhibiting an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5 that controls blood flow to the penis.
A Bayer spokeswoman told Reuters Health that vardenafil is currently in several phase III trials. The company expects to present the results of one of those trials, examining the drug in diabetics, in June., 百拇医药
