Abstract
AIM: To investigate the protective effect of taurine (TAU) on the ischemia and reperfusion injury during pancreas transplantation and its mechanism in rats.
METHODS: Rat models of pancreatic-duodenal transplantation were used in this study. Thirty Wistar rats were randomly allocated into 3 groups (n = 10), including control group (CMU-1 preservation solution), experiment group A (CMU-1 + TAU 5 mmol/L) and experiment group B (CMU-1 + TAU 10 mmol/L) (The liquid CMU-1 is multi-organ preservation solution produced in our laboratory). Blood samples were collected 6 hours after reperfusion for examination of serum amylase level. Pancreatic tissues were collect for pathologic observation. The expression of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1b (IL-1b) were determined by immunohistochemistry using integrated optical density (IOD).
RESULTS: In comparison with that in control group, the level of serum amylase was increased 6 hours after reperfusion in experiment group A and B (911 ......
