Abstract
AIM: To investigate the relationship between concentration changes of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) and associated lung injury in rat.
METHODS: A Rat SAP model was established by retrograde injection of 30 g/L sodium taurocholate into bile-pancreatic duct. Rats were sacrificed at 0, 3, 6, 12, 24 hours and their sera and left lungs collected. Sera sICAM-1 and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in lung tissue were measured.
RESULTS: Increases in sera sICAM-1 concentrations were evident at 3 hours after SAP induced, and the MPO activity of lung tissue was significantly increased at 6 hours. Sera sICAM-1 concentration positively correlation with MPO activity (r = 0 ......
