My decision to come to China, not as a visitor, but as one who intends to make this land her Home, was but the first step of a long journey. I brought with me, a profound belief that such a New Life was possible-- that in spite of the painful struggles I had previously endured, I had a God-given Hope that this venture would be successful.

I knew that I would find Love here, and indeed, I was fortunate enough to find the one soul who could give unstintingly of that Gift, with open heart and hands—and we were married last year. However, in exploring this new world with him, I found that my physical body was not up to the adventure. Many years of personal pain, of lost hopes, and an inherited tendency towards depression and physical heaviness, had done their work-- I was unable to fully enjoy the New Life I had longed for, and I sought a way to mend the hurts the past had inflicted on my body.

In my studies of Chinese culture, and specifically, the differences between Chinese and Western medicine, I found that Chinese physicians often take a more holistic view of curing human ills. This was in perfect concert with my personal beliefs. Also, I discovered, during various colds and illnesses I experienced here, that my body worked well with Chinese medicine, and seemed to heal quicker. I had previously considered having bariatric surgery and liposuction in the United States, but there was so much bad press about these operations, that I decided to put it off until I had a clearer understanding what they entailed.
