    Effects of domperidone on gallbladder emptying in normal persons

    Abstract

    AIMS To investigate the effects of domperidone(Dom) on gallbladder(GB) emptying in normal persons.

    METHODS The effects of Dom on GB emptying in 18 normal subjects were studied by ultrasonography according to randomized, double-blind and self-controlled protocol.

    RESULTS GB emptying was slow after oral Dom. GB ejection fraction(GBEF) was significantly decreased at postprandial 30min after oral 20mg Dom(P<0.05), and the decrease was more significant 60min after the meal (P<0.01). A marked difference was found between 10mg Dom and 20mg Dom on GBEF after the meal. No significant difference was found between 10mg Dom and without Dom(P>0.05) although 10mg Dom made GBEF decreased. The speed of GB emptying was slower, and the maximum GBEF was significantly less in 20mg Dom than in 10mg Dom and no Dom after the meal(P<0.01). ......
