    A study on HBVDNA in hepatocellular carcinoma and para-carcinomatous tissue by location PCR

    Abstract

    AIMS To study S and C genes of HBVDNA in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and para-HCC tissue by microdissection (location) PCR.

    METHODS Formalin fixed, paraffin embedded sections of 28 HCC, Para-HCC with strongly HBsAg(+) area (P₂) and HBsAg(-) area (P₁) in one low-power size tested by microdissection PCR of S and C genes.

    RESULTS Positivity rate of S gene was higher than that of C gene in HCC(P<0.05), while in para-HCC there were no significant difference between them. In para-HCC the positivity rates of S and C genes in P₁ and P₂ were similar. The positivity rates of S and/or C genes in highly differentiated HCC were lower than that of middle differentiated HCC (P<0.05). ......
