Effects of Hp infection on symptoms and gastric motility in functional dyspepsia

Abstract
AIM To assess the effects of Hp infection on gastric motor and emptying and the symptoms in functional dyspepsia (FD) patients.
METHODS Gastric antral motility and gastric emptying of liquid were studied in 71 Hp+ FD cases (male 43 and female 28, aged 38.9±12.3 years ) and 48 Hp- FD cases (male 30 and female 18, aged 40.6±7.4 years) by real-time ultrasound. Twenty-six Hp-uninfected healthy volunteers (male 16 and female 10, aged 38.7±10.1 years) served as controls. After ingestion of 10% 500ml glucose, the frequency (F), amplitude (A) of antral contraction, antral motor index (MI), the half emptying time (T50) and emptying time (T) were measured. The association between the gastric motility parameters and symptoms of FD was also evaluated. ......
