Relationship between electrogastric dysrhythmia and leucin-enkephalin in rats

Abstract
AIM To study the relationship between electrogastric dysrhythmias and leucin-enkephalin.
METHODS Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: control (n=20), model group (n=30) and drug group (n=10). In model group, rats were fed irregularly for 4 weeks (fasted for 24h every other day). Then the silver electrodes were implanted on antrum. Seven days later, gastric electric slow wave and fast wave were recorded. The effects of morphine and naloxone on gastric myoelectric activity were investigated in drug group. In control and model groups, the contents of leucin-enkephalin (L-enk) in plasma and the tissue of antrum were measured; the L-enk immunoreactive nerves and cholinergic (Ach) nerves in antral myenteric plexus were demonstrated by immunocytochemistry and histochemistry, and measured by image analysis systems. ......
