    Effectof growth hormone and hepatocyte growth factor on rat liver regenerationafter hepatectomy

    AbstractAIM: To study the effect of growth hormone (GH) and hepatocyte growthfactor (HGF) on rat liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy (PH).

    METHODS:A total of 36 rats were divided randomly into 6 groups. Group 1 wastreated with growth hormone after PH; Group 2 was treated with hepatocytegrowth factor after PH; Group 3 was not treated with any drug after PH;Groups 4 and 5 without PH were only treated with GH and HGF respectively,and Group 6 was designed as the normal control without PH and drugstreatment. After 7 days treatment, the sera and liver tissues of all ratswere collected. The serum AFP was detected by ELISA and the telomeraseactivity (TA) of liver tissue was determined by PCR-ELISA. Meanwhile, theliver was studied by pathology. ......
