Characteristic of microcirculation in pilots with history of syncope in the air and its possible influence WANG Ying, BAI Jin-xiang, LI Hong-cai, et al. Beidaihe Sanatorium of Air Force, Qinhuangdao 066100, China
【Abstract】 Objective To explore the relationship between characteristic of microcirculation and proneness to syncope so as to improve the prevention and treatment of syncope in the air. Methods Thirty nine pilots with history of syncope in the air served as subjects, and 46 healthy pilots as controls. In both groups, the routine orthostatic tolerance test (OTT) was performed. Blood pressure, heart rate and microcirculation were observed before and during the test. Results During OTT, the differences of several microcirculation indexes between two groups became significant immediately after turning to erect position, and the change of some indexes became more obvious 20 min after turning to erect position (P<0.05), accompanied by further lowering of blood pressure. Conclusions Ability of microcirculation adjustment during OTT appeared to be closely related with proneness to syncope. Measures enhancing microcirculation adjustment should be adopted and further verified.
