【Abstract】 Objective To analyze and evaluate the clinical value of mean corpuscular Volume(MCV)and RBC fragile test from peripheral blood in screening and diagnosing thalassemia/Mediterranean anemia.Methods Routine complete blood count(CBC，including MCV)，RBC fragile test，hemoglobin analyses and thalassemia gene detection on thalassemia child and family member were suspected.Results (1)150families and467persons were checked for thaˉlassemia，339out of467were diagnosed as thalassemia.Among them，309cases had MCV<78fI(91.15%)and30cases of MCV>78fi(8.85%)which could be seen in all gene types of thalassemia.(2)The rate of normal MCV in thaˉlassemia was12.21%(21out of172) ......
