Through analysis of the mechanism of lumbarintervertebral disc intrusion, such as mechanical oppression, chemical nerve-rootinflammation and auto -immunity theory, the author believes that the options for thetherapy depend on different pathological phases. He also discusses how to select thedifferent therapiesespecially the nonoperation therapy, like manipulation, medicineinjection, TCM herbs for oral medication. 46 cases of prolapsed lumbar intervertebral discwere treated with the non-operation therapy. The excellent result was obtained in 30cases, and the improved result in 16. The average time for the treatment was 3 weeks, withthe minimum being 1 week and the maximum 6 weeks.
