Abstract
AIM: To investigate the seropharmacological effects of Yigankangand its separated recipe (SR) on the activation and proliferation ofhepatic stellate cells (HSCs), and to explore the antifibrotic mechanismof Yigankang.
METHODS: Normal rats and rats with CCl4-inducedliver fibrosis were given Yigankang and its separated recipe(containing radix salviae militiorrhizae, astragalus and angelica sinensis)to prepare the medicated serums. After incubation with the serums, theproliferation of HSCs was measured by H3-TdRincorporation, and the expression of a-smoothmuscle actin (a-SMA)was detected by immunocytochemistry.
RESULTS: Both kinds of medicated serums from normal rats and ratswith liver fibrosis had inhibitory effects on 3H-TdRincorporation and a-SMAexpression. In group A (medicated serum from normal rats), 50 mL/Lmedicated serum had no significant inhibition on the proliferation of HSCsas compared with the control serum (P>0 ......
