Abstract
AIM: To evaluate the clinical value of endoscopic therapy (ERCP) and its curative effect/cost in the treatment of acute biliary pancreatitis.
METHODS: The clinical data of 136 patients with acute biliary pancreatitis were analyzed. In those patients, 53 were treated with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and 83 were treated with conservative treatment.
RESULTS: The 53 patients received ERCP were all successfully finished the examination. The status of their disease was improved, and no complications occurred. The time of hospitalization was significantly shorter (12.64±5.04 d vs 25.54±12.96 d, P <0.05) and the cost were markedly lower (12 503.25±5 342.14 RMB vs 31 325.54±15 790.47 RMB, P <0.05) in patients treated with ERCP than those with conservative treatment, and the mortality was decreased ......
