    Abstract:AIM To evaluate effect of octreotide in rat hepat-ic ischemic reperfusion injury.METHODS Thirty adult male SD rats were randomly separated into three groups.The rats in group1underwent sham operations，and those in group2underwent a90-minute-period of ischemia of the right lateral lobe.The rats in group3were given the same treatment as group2rats except that0.5μg of octreotide ac-etate subcutaneously every6h from24h before hepatic re-section until sacrifice，group1and group2received saline so-lution instead of octreotide as a control.RESULTS Oc-treotide improved the animals'survival rates from0(group2)to60%(group3)(P<0.05)and decreased bilirubin levels [(7.1±1.7)mg L-1 (group3)vs(31±0.4)mg L-1 (group2)，P<0.05].CONCLUSION Octreotide could be used to treat ischemic reperfusion injury.
