Professors Chen Shishu, Qian Guanxiang et al of human gene therapy research center, Shanghai Second Medical University prepared the "tumor vaccine" of stomach carcinoma cell and successfully conducted clinical experiment with small samples in 8 cases; their research project was approved by SDA recently and has proceeded with the phase I and II clinical study.
Chen Shishu, Qian Guanxian et al devoted themselves for 10 years in preparing "interleukin-2 genetic engineering vaccine of gastric carcinoma cell" which was approved by the SDA as a new preparation of biological products to be used for clinical trial with small samples of 8 cases. The 8 advanced cases of carcinoma underwent the treatment with "tumor vaccine" for a period of 2 months and were followed-up for one month. The method has proved to be a safe and tolerable one; it kept a stable status of the disease condition when the patients underwent "tumor vaccine" therapy.
In view of the satisfactory results obtained in the clinical trial in small number of samples, the phase I and II clinical studies with the "tumor vaccine" were approved by the SDA in March 29th , 2002., http://www.100md.com
