The 2nd Sino-American Medical Forum of the 21st Ce
At a recent press conference convoked at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital, Professor Li Hong, director of the hospital announced that the Second Sino-American 21st Century Medical Forum will be held in Shanghai 26-28th October 2002. Professor Chen Zhu, deputy director of Chinese Academy of Science and Chairman of the forum pointed out at the press conference that the forum will pay emphasis on the discussion of construction of scientific research, such as evidence based medicine and individualization of medicine. Additionally, attempt will be made to organically integrate traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with Western modern medicine, on the view points that TCM pays attention to the human body as a whole and that in Western medicine, the organs, tissues and cellular elements are focused. Furthermore, modern medicine should lay more emphasis on humanity concern, giving concern on patient's interest. This forum will discuss in depth some of the front line problems in medicine directly related to human health, such as nitric oxide and cell growth, research and application of artificial heart, the latest progress of kidney transplantation, regeneration of myocardial cells, innovated immune therapy for allergic diseases, immunotherapy of tumors, clinical and research progress of Parkinson's disease, development strategy of the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases etc., 百拇医药
