Professor Zheng Jiang of comprehensive experimental research center, Chongqing Sourthwestern Hospital, using computerized molecular engineering technology prepared an antagonist of endotoxin polypeptide, which may potentially be used to treat sepsis caused by endotoxin.
After nearly ten years of study, professor Zheng, utilizing a modeling design, synthesized a large number of anti-endotoxin polypeptides according to the molecular structure of protein formed in vivo, through computerized molecular engineering technique; optic biological transducer was then used to screen out primarily the useful anti-endotoxin polypeptides, followed by a series of in vivo and in vitro biological competence screening and re-structuring, finally prepared a high potency and low toxic anti-endotoxin polypeptide, which was a powerful bactericidal agent with a strong function of neutralizing endotoxin and could be synthesized in vitro in large amounts. In the foreseeable future, the achievement of this study will possibly be put into practical clinical application and result in a breakthrough in the treatment of sepsis caused by endotoxin.
