Multiple subtypes of M receptor in the heart are i
Dr. Liu Yan of research laboratory of Pharmacology, College of Pharmaceuticals, Harbin Medical University, under the instructions of Professor Yang Baofeng, completed a research project entitled "A new discovery and functional study of subtype of cardiac M receptor", which suggested a series of new viewpoints and has been awarded with the provincial scientific progress prize of Heilongjiang province.
This study of the Harbin University discovered that M3, M4 subtypes of the myocardium coupled with the potassium passages of different electric potential and activated their functional activities, might lead to decreased heart rate, decline of the contractility and shortening of the action potential. It was thus suggested that the various M receptors of the myocardium (M2,M3,M4) coexist in the canine heart, and the individual subtypes are coupled with the individual potassium passages. Additionally, after the study of the special features of the M3 receptor of the heart they discovered 3 elements initially activating M3 receptor: choline, TMA and pilocarpine. Thirdly, after activating M3 receptor of the animal heart, choline developed the actions of negative inotropic and negative frequency, which verified the concordance of the in vitro condition. This conclusion suggested that the new type of potassium cation current (IKM) excitated by the activation of M3 receptor might be a new target of anti-arrhythmia., 百拇医药
