【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the effect of mild hypothermic treatment on the coagulation function in acute cerebral injured rats. METHODS: Prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT) and fibrinogen (FIB) levels were studied in cerebral injured rats after treatment with mild hypothermia. RESULTS: PT, APTT, and TT in the mild hypothermia group were longer than in the other groups during the first 6 hours, and then returned to normal levels after 6 hours. In cerebral injured groups, PT, APTT, and TT decreased in the first 6 hours, then increased after 6 hours. FIB levels decreased in the first 6 hours, and increased 6 hours later in the mild hypothermia groups. In cerebral injured groups, FIB levels increased in the first 6 hours and decreased 6 hours later. CONCLUSION: Cerebral injury in the early stage could result in hypercoagulability, and mild hypothermia is an effective method to treat hypercoagulability after cerebral injury. ......
