Clinical study of reducing losing ratio of brackets bonding to heavy fluorotic teeth

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To investigate the effects of bracket bonding to heavy fluorotic teeth with the lightª²curing composite and to reduce losing ratio of the brackets. METHODS: 324 heavy fluorotic teeth were chosen in 17 patients who needed fixed appliance for orthodontic treatment. According to different treating methods of fluorotic teeth enamel surface, the teeth were divided into 3 groups randomly: direct bonding to fluorotic teeth surface, bonding to polished fluorotic teeth surface, and bonding to veneers of fluorotic teeth. The losing ratio of the brackets were observed after 4, 8 and 12 weeks. RESULTS: The losing ratio of the 3 groups was 74.0%, 25.9% and 1.7% after 4, 8 and 12 weeks of bonding, respectively. There was significant difference in the losing ratio of the brackets among the 3 groups(P<0.01). The effects of bonding to veneers of fluorotic teeth surface were much better than those in the other two groups. Bonding to polished fluorotic teeth surface was better than direct bonding to fluorotic teeth surface. CONCLUSION: The losing ratio of the brackets bonding of the heavy fluorotic teeth with the lightª²curing composite can be reduced significantly. It is an effective method for heavy fluorotic teeth, which can be used in fixed multibrackets appliance. ......
