Expression of bagª²1 gene and its ralationship with the genesis and prognosis of breast cancer

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To evaluate bagª²1 expression in breast cancer and to evaluate its clinical significance. METHODS: One hundred samples of breast cancer specimens were analyzed by SABC immunohistochemical stain for antiª²apoptotic gene bagª²1 expression. RESULTS: The positivity rate of bagª²1 expression in breast cancer, benign tumor and normal tissues was 85.0%, 10.0%, 10.0% respectively,and significant difference was observed (P<0.05). The bagª²1 expression rate in pathologic grade I, II, III was 87.5%, 82.4%, 88.2% respectively, and no significant difference was observed (P>0.05). The positivity rate of bagª²1 expression in duct carcinoma, lobular carcinoma and special carcinoma was 85.5%, 84.8%, 80.0% respectively, and no significant difference was observed (P>0.05). Followingª²up 100 breast cancer patients showed that 5ª²year survival rate of bagª²1 positive patients was 78.7%, and that of the bagª²1 negative ones was 8.5%, significant difference was observed (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: There is an overexpression of bagª²1 in breast cancer. The positivity rate of bagª²1 expression is not related to the pathologic grade and the clinical type. bagª²1 might serve as a biomarker to diagnose and prognose breast cancer in the earlier period. ......
