【Abstract】 AIM: To explore the effects of Qidantongmai tablets (QDTMT) on the CD40 mRNA expression of aorta and monouncleus cells in atherosclerosis rat. METHODS: In this study, 72 male SD rats were divided into six experimental groups. The control group was assigned randomly to receive normal diet (n=12). Model group was given high fat and cholesterol diet (n=12). The other four groups given high fat and cholesterol diet were divided into low dose QDTMT group[0.36 g/(kg.d)], moderate dose QDTMT group[1.08 g/(kg.d)], high dose QDTMT group [3.24 g/(kg.d)] and Simvastatin group[4 mg/(kg.d)] for 16 weeks. The expression of CD40 of aorta and monouncleus cells in every group was detected by reverse transcript polymerse chain reaction (RTPCR). RESULTS: The expression level of CD40 in model group was evidentially higher than that in control group. Significant decrease of CD40 mRNA expression was found in groups given QDTMT. It was found that the higher the QDTMT dose was, the lower the expression of CD40. CONCLUSION: The expression of CD40 of aorta and monouncleus cells in atherosclerosis rats increases and QDTMT can reduce the expression of CD40 in a dosedependent manner. ......
