Color Doppler imaging in evaluating therapeutic effects of nimodipine on ophthalmic artery in patients with pregnancy induced hypertension

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To assess the therapeutic effects of nimodipine on ophthalmic artery (OA) blood flow in patients with pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) by color Doppler imaging. METHODS: The OA blood flow parameters of 20 patients were measured by pulse and color Doppler ultrasonography before and after oral administration of nimodipine, while other 20 patients received intravenous magnesium sulfate as control group. The ratio of systolic second peak velocity to systolic first velocity (B/A) in OA was measured, and the pulse index (PI) and resistance index (RI) were calculated. RESULTS: The B/A in OA and the blood pressure (BP) in the nimodipine group were significantly reduced after nimodipine was administered orally (P<0.05), but the PI and RI were greatly increased at the same time (P<0.05 PI=1.22¡À0.15 ......
