【Abstract】 AIM: To study the influence of 32hour sleep deprivation on selective attention. METHODS: Twelve young healthy male performed 6 kinds of selective attention tasks, which measured the ability of encoding, response selection and motor adjustment before and after 32hour sleep deprivation. RESULTS: Correction analysis showed that before and after the sleep deprivation, there were significant differences in the average reaction time in C2, the abnorm coefficient in C1, and the margin of the abnorm coefficient of correct responses in both C1 and C2. The differences of average reaction time of the all responses in C1, the omission errors in C2, the margin of omission errors in both A1 and A2, and the margin of C1 and C2 were significant before and after sleep deprivation. CONCLUSION: The response velocity, stability of motor and correct rate of performance decrease after a 32hour sleep deprivation, especially in performing easier tasks. The change is mainly during the stages of encoding and motor adjustment, and is not so significant during the stage of response selection. ......
