     Survey of public psychological status in Xi’an during prevalence of SARS

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the public cognitive behavior model and supportability during the prevalence of SARS and to study the SARS epidemic caused changes of public psychosocial status. METHODS: SARS psychosocial status questionnaires were conducted in 3398 Xi'an inhabitants, who come from more than twenty different occupations. RESULTS: The public cognitive behavior model changed significantly during the prevalence of SARS. People of different cultural and educational levels showed different change trend and their supportability was also different. CONCLUSION: The public psychosocial status is mostly affected by the unsureness of information in the event of epidemic outbreak.
