    Association of polymorphism of Nacetyltransferase gene with susceptibility to colorectal cancer in Han nationality of Hebei province

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the relationship between polymorphism of Nacetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) gene and susceptibility to colorectal cancer in Han nationality of Hebei province, China. METHODS: A casecontrol study was performed in 83 patients with colorectal cancer and 83 control subjects. The genotypes of NAT2 were determined by polymerase chain reactionrestriction fragment length polymorphism(PCRRFLP) assay. RESULTS: There was no significant differences in fastacetylator genotypes between patients and control subjects(χ2=0.1365, P=0.7118). The frequencies of genotype Wt/M2 were higher (χ2=10.2176, P=0.0014) in patients (42.2%) as compared with control subjects(19.3%). If the Odds ratio (OR) for Wt/Wt was 1, OR for genotype Wt/M2 was 3.21 (95% CI: 1.33-7.76); OR for Wt/M1 was 0.37<1 (95% CI: 0.04-3.61); OR for Wt/M3 was 0.98<1 (95% CI: 0.38-2.51); OR for other genotypes (Mx/Mx x=1,2,3,4) was 1.32 (95% CI: 0.53-3.29), including 1. CONCLUSION: These data suggest that genotype Wt/M2 may be a risk factor of colorectal cancer in Han nationality of Hebei province, China. ......
