【Abstract】 AIM: To explore the effects of taurine on myocardial blunt injury in rabbits. METHODS: Thirty rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups: control group, myocardial contusion group(MC group)and taurine treatment group (Tau group). BIMⅡ Horizontal Bioimpact Machine was used to make the model of myocardial contusion in MC and Tau groups. Ten minutes before and 0.5, 2, 4, 8 and 24 h after impact, blood was taken from femoral vein of the animals to measure the concentration of serum myocardial tropnion I (cTnI) and creatine phosphate kinase (CPK). At the 24th hour after impact, the myocardial tissues of all animals were taken to examine the activity of Ca2+ATPases. RESULTS: Compared with that of the control group, 2 h after myocardial contusion, the level of serum cTnI and CPK increased (P<0.05) and the activity of Ca2+ATPases in myocardial tissues decreased (P<0.01) in MC group. Compared with that of the MC group, 8 h to 24 h after impact, the concentration of serum cTnI and CPK obviously fell and the activity of Ca2+ATPases in myocardial tissues increased 1fold in Tau group. CONCLUSION: Tau can decrease the level of serum cTnI and CPK, and increase the activity of Ca2+ATPases in myocardial tissues. Tau can protect rabbits from myocardial blunt injury. ......
