Effects of urinary trypsin inhibitor on postoperative immune function in patients with gastrointestinal cancer

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To evaluate the effects of urinary trypsin inhibitor (UTI) on the immune function of patients with gastrointestinal cancer after operation. METHODS: Fortyª²six patients with gastrointestinal cancer were randomly divided into UTI group (n=23), and control group (n=23). In UTI group, 2¡Á105 U UTI was administered daily, from the day of surgery to the 6th d after radical operation. Test of the immune function (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+, NK cell, ILª²2, IgA, IgG, IgM) was performed preoperatively and at different time periods postoperatively. RESULTS: The tendency of CD3+, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+ ratio, NK cell, ILª²2, IgA, IgG and IgM descended on day 1 after operation, and rose again on d 4 and d 7 after operation in the two groups. The difference of CD4+, CD4+/CD8+, NKC activity, IgG, IgM and ILª²2 level was significant between the experimental group and control group (P<0.05). CONCLOSION: UTI can significantly improve the immune function in patients with gastrointestinal cancer after operation. ......
