【Abstract】 AIM: To observe the coexistence of calbindinD28k (CB) with parvalbumin (PV) in neurons of the anterior horn of the spinal cord in rats. METHODS: Immunofluorescence histochemical doublestaining method was used. RESULTS: Some of the medium and smallsized neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord showed CB or PVimmunopositive staining. The majority of the CBimmunoreactive neurons also exhibited PVimmunoreactivities, i.e. CB and PV coexisted in these neurons. CONCLUSION: CB and PV coexist in some of the neurons in the anterior horn. CB/PV doublelabeled neurons might belong to Renshaw cells and they may have some feedback inhibitory regulatory effects on the activities of α motor neurons in the anterior horn. ......
