Comparative study on xenoª² and alloª²MLRs between human and mice

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To compare MLRs with xenoª²Ags and alloª²Ags in vitro. METHODS: Xenoª² and alloª²MLRs were set up and a cellular classification study of xenoª² and alloª²MLRs was performed. RESULTS: The response of human lymphocytes to xenogenic cells was weaker than that to allogenic cells. The cellular classification study indicated that the human antiª²mice xenoª²response to murine Ags was through an indirect pathway, while the majority of human antiª²human alloª²response to human Ags was through a direct pathway. In all the responses, human CD4+ T cells were the major response cells, though CD8+ T cells were also involved as well. CONCLUSION: The response of human T cells to xenogenic cells is weaker than that to allogenic cells. Antigen presenting cell (APC) is involved in both alloª²MLRs and xenoª²MLRs. There are direct and indirect pathways in alloª²MLRs, but only indirect pathways in xenoª²MLRs. ......
