     Effects of plasma from women with pregnancyinduced hypertension on nitric oxide released from human umbilical endothelial cells

    【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effects of plasma from women with pregnancyinduced hypertension on endothelial nitric oxide in vitro. METHODS: Plasma from pregnancyinduced hypertension or plasma from normal late trimester pregnant women was added to the human umbilical vein endothelial cells in vitro. After 24 h, the production of NO/NO, the endproduct of NO by cultured endothelial cells, was measured. RESULTS: The production of NO/NO by cultured endothelial cells exposed to 2% plasma was (7.9±0.5) μmol/L in pregnancyinduced hypertension group and (5.9±0.6) μmol/L in normal pregnant group. The production in pregnancyinduced hypertension group was higher than that in normal group (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Plasma from pregnancyinduced hypertension stimulates the production of nitric oxide by cultured endothelial cells. ......
