Abstract A spectrophotometric method for the determination of clotrimazole is described. The charge transfer
reaction between clotrimazole and chloranilic acid takes place in acetone solution. The composition of the charge
transfer complex is 1∶ 1. Beer′ s law is obeyed in the range of 0~300 mg/ L with correlation coefficient 0. 9997. The
apparent molar absorptivity is 1. 22 ×103
L· mol
- 1
· cm- 1
at 525 nm. The proposed method has been applied to
determination of clotrimazole in tablets with satisfactory results. ......
