【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the effects of constant magnetic field on the secretion and expression of intercellular adhesion molecule1 (ICAM1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule1 (VCAM1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and on their adhesion rates with THP1 monocytes induced by angiotensinⅡ (AngⅡ). METHODS: The third passage of cultured HUVECs were used. There were six groups: one control group, one AngⅡ (1×10-6 mol/L) group, and four AngⅡ groups respectively plus 1, 5, 10 or 20 gausses of constant magnetic field. Samples were collected 24 h after incubation with or without magnetic field. The secretion and expression of ICAM1 and VCAM1 were detected by ELISA and immunocytochemistry respectively. The adhesion rate between HUVECs and THP1 was counted. RESULTS: The secretion and expression of ICAM1 and VCAM1 significantly increased in AngⅡ (1×10-6 mol/L) group (P<0.05 vs control) compared with those in control group, while the secretion and expression of ICAM1 and VCAM1 in 1, 5, 10 and 20 gausses groups significantly decreased compared with those in AngⅡ(1×10-6 mol/L) group (P<0.05). The adhesion rates between HUVECs and THP1 significantly increased 24 h after incubation of HUVECs with AngⅡ(1×10-6 mol/L) (P<0.05 vs control) while the adhesion rates between HUVECs and THP1 in 1, 5, 10 and 20 gausses groups significantly decreased comparing with those in the AngⅡ group (1×10-6 mol/L) (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: One gauss to 20 gausses of constant magnetic field can antagonize the effects of AngⅡ on HUVECs, decrease the secretion and expression of ICAM1 and VCAM1 in HUVECs and decrease the adhesion rates between HUVECs and monocytes. ......
