【Abstract】 AIM: To explore the effects of 1methyl4henyltetrahydropyridine (MPTP) on cerebral cortical cytokines. METHODS: Twentyeight male C57BL/6J mice were treated with 25 mg/kg MPTP i.p. for five consecutive days. The control group (10 mice) were treated with saline. The mice were decapitated on day 1 (10 mice), day 3 (8 mice) and day 14 (10 mice) after the last MPTP injection. IL1β and IL6 levels in supernatant of homogenates of cerebral cortices were measured by the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: MPTP injection affected cerebral cortical IL1β levels (P<0.001) and compared with those in control group, IL1β levels decreased dramatically at day 3 after treatment (P<0.01). MPTP injection had no effect on cerebral cortical IL6 levels. CONCLUSION: MPTP induces IL1β variations in cerebral cortices. ......
