     Relationship and expression of survivin and p53 in prostatic carcinoma

    【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the expression of surviving and p53 in the tissues of prostatic carcinoma and to evaluate the relationship between survivin and p53. METHODS: The expression of survivin and p53 in 55 patients with prostatic carcinoma were examined using immunohistochemical method. RESULTS: The positive cases of survivin and p53 in prostatic carcinoma were 43 (78.18%) and 27 (49.09%), respectively. The positive rate of survivin and p53 was strongly associated with pathological grades and clinical stages (P<0.05). The expression of survivin was correlated with p53 (r=0.629). CONCLUSION: The inhibition of apoptosis caused by the cooperation of surviving and loss of p53 may play a pivotal role in tumorigenneis and tumor progression in prostatic carcinoma. ......
