【Abstract】 AIM: To study the pathological characteristics of the end plate on diaphragm in experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis animal model by light microscopy and electron microscopy. METHODS: Passively transferred myasthenia gravis animal model was prepared by injection of acetylcholine receptor monoclonal antibody mAb35, and the ultrastructure of the end plates was studied by acetylcholinesterase histochemical technique. RESULTS: Myasthenia symptoms were induced in the experimental group. The end plates of diaphragm showed ultrastructural changes similar to those of myasthenia gravis patients but no change was found in the number of the end plates. No changes were observed in the control group. CONCLUSION: It is suggested that the ultrastructural changes of the end plates on diaphragm may result in the dyspnea in experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis. ......
