ABSTRACT: Objective To investigate the effect of resistance index by continuously ultrasonographic monitor and β2MG, NacetylβDglucosam in idase (NAG) in urine before and after ESWL in the renal damage caused by extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL). Methods A total of 40 rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: electromagnetic lithotripter group and electro hydraulic lithotripter group. Each group was divided into two sub groups: A group(1000) and B group(1500). RI and β2MG, NAG were detected before and after ESWL in various time. Results 72 hours after ESWL, the level of RI, β2MG and NAG increased obviously (P<0.01). The increase of data in group A were significantly lower than those in group B (P<0.01). The increase of data in the electromagnetic group were not significantly different from those in the electro hydraulic group(P>0.05). Conclusion RI, β2MG and NAG might be effective makers to measure the renal damage by ESWL. Control of the number of ESWL impulse can lessen the damage of kidney. ......
