Combination of octreotide with specific cyclooxygenase-2inhibitor enhances the inhibitory effect on growth of human hepatocellular carcinoma

    Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of a special COX.2inhabitor(NS.398)and somastotatin analog(oct-reotide)on the proliferation and apoptosis in a HCC cell line，SMMC.7721;tofocus on observing the effects of combination treatment of NS.398and octreotide on antiproliferation and induction of apoptosis in SMMC.7721.Methods Cell growth and proliferation of SMMC.7721were analyzed with MTT assay;apoptosis was detected with flow cytometry assay.Results (1)NS.398and octreotide inhibited cell growth of SMMC.7721in a time-and dose-dependent manner.The combination of1×10-5 mol·L-1 NS.398and1×10-6 mol·L-1 octreotide inhibited the proliferation more remarkably than either agent applied singularly(P<0.01) ......
