Construction and application of Access database of hepatolithiasis cases

    ¡¾Abstract¡¿ AIM: To construct a database using Microsoft Access 2000 in which the clinical information of hepatolithiasis cases can be loaded and to investigate its application values. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted in 596 cases of hepatolithiasis from 1990 to 2004 in Zhujiang Hospital. An Access 2000 database consisting of 596 pathologically confirmed hepatolithiasis cases was established, designated as the specialized Access database of hepatolithiasis. RESULTS: The database system was successfully constructed and operated smoothly. It was a simple and practical database for the epidemiological analysis of hepatolithiasis cases. CONCLUSION: The database possesses powerful capacity of information processing of hepatolithiasis. It facilitates not only the information management of case records but also the clinical treatment, diagnosis and teaching and research. ......
