【Abstract】 AIM: To study the effects of interferonβ (IFNβ) gene on apoptosis and upregulation of Fas expression of the human glioma cells and to observe the relationship of cell apoptosis and the upregulation of Fas expression. METHODS: The SHG44 glioma model of nude mice was established. Eukaryonic expression vector (pSV2IFNβ) for IFNβ packaged by liposome was injected into SHG44 glioma of nude mice. The effects of IFNβ gene on the apoptosis and Fas expression in the glioma cells were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and TUNEL. RESULTS: The expression of IFNβgene in the glioma nude mice was determined. The glioma growth in nude mice was inhibited. The apoptosis of the glioma cells SHG44 was observed. Fas expression in the glioma cells was significantly higher than that in the control cells. CONCLUSION: IFNβ gene can inhibit the growth of human gliomas and induce the apoptosis of human glioma cells, which may be related to the upregulation of Fas expression in the cells. ......
