     Distribution of atrial natriuretic peptides in cochlear microvascular of guinea pigs

    【Abstract】 AIM: To provide some morphologic basis for the function of atrial natriuretic peptides (ANP) in the cochlear microcirculation by studying their distribution on the vessels in guinea pigs. METHODS: The distribution characteristic of ANP immunohistochemical reaction was detected by immunohistochemical technique (ABC method). RESULTS: ANP immunoreactive products were found in the strial vascularis, main stem of spiral modiolar artery and the branches of SMA near the basic turn of the cochlea, but no positive immunoreactive products were found in the small branches of SMA near other turns. CONCLUSION: ANP may play an important role in moderating the cochlear blood flow and the distribution may be related to their function. ......
