【Abstract】 AIM: To study the antitumor activity and its mechanism of angeloylheliotridine (AH). METHODS: The inhibitory effects of AH on L1210 cells were analyzed by drawing up their diagram of growing curves. Growth inhibition of L1210, HepG2 and HCC cells was measured by microculture tetrazolium (MTT) assay. The cell cycle of L1210 cells was tested by flow cytometry (FCM). RESULTS: The slopes of growing curves and the maximums of growing density of L1210 cells exposed to AH decreased. When exposed to AH 80 mg·L-1, the inhibitory rate of L1210 cells was 18.18% and exposed to AH 320 mg·L-1, the inhibitory rates of HepG2 and HCC cells were 12.28% and 10.24% respectively. FCM indicated that L1210 cells in G2M phase increased significantly (P<0.01) following 24hour exposure to AH 80 mg·L-1. CONCLUSION: AH exerts some inhibitory effects on L1210 cells and blocks L1210 cells in G2M phase of cell cycle. AH has relatively weak inhibitory effects on HepG2 and HCC cells. ......
