    Abstract Objective To investigate the effects of extract of mulberry leaves on blood sugar level and reaction of lipid peroxitation in diabetic rats. Methods Diabetic rats were treated with extract of mulberry leaves for 4 weeks, and then the levels of the whole blood sugar and lipid peroxidation and superoxide dismutase were determined. Results Compared with the group of control diabetic rats, in the group of diabetic rats treated with extract of mulberry leaves supplementing, the levels of blood sugar and LPO are decreased and the activity of SOD are increased with significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion Extract of mulberry leaves could relieve the reaction of lipid peroxide and decrease blood sugar level in diabetic rats.
