     Experimental studies on sedativehypnotic effect of Linaoning

    【Abstract】AIM: To study the sedativehypnotic effect of Linaoning(LNN) (a complex prescription of traditional Chinese medicine ), and provide an experimental base and a theoretical foundation for its clinical application. METHODS: The sedativehypnotic effect was studied by observing the spontaneous action and pentobarbital sleeping time in mice. RESULTS: LNN obviously decreased the walking time and the frequence of its raising forelimb. Compared with preadministration or control group, lowdose LNN (P<0.05), middle and highdoseLNN (P<0.01) obviously prolonged the pentobarbital sleeping time in mice in a dosedependent manner. CONCLUSION: LNN does have the sedativehypnotic effect.
