【Abstract】 AIM: To establish the 2dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D PAGE) profiles from aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) rat renal tissues and normal renal tissues and to identify the differentially expressed proteins. METHODS: Establish chronic renal interstitial fibrosis model in rats by peritoneal injection with aristolochic acid (AA). The total proteins from AAN models and normal rat renal tissues were separated by 2D PAGE. The differentially expressed proteins in 2DPAGE maps were analyzed using image analysis software. RESULTS: The rat models of AAinduced chronic renal interstitial fibrosis were established successfully. Clear, wellresolved and reproducible 2D PAGE patterns of AAN models and normal rat renal tissues were obtained and many differentially expressed proteins were found. CONCLUSION: The differentially expressed proteins of renal tissues can be induced by AA in Wistar rats. These proteins maybe mediate the toxicity of aristolochic acid to renal tissues. ......
