【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the antioxidative action of the water extracts of Rhodiola and Pueraria, and the doseeffect relationship. METHODS: SpragueDawley rats were killed and then the livers were removed to prepare homogenate and isolate the microsome by calcium ion precipitation. The water extracts of Rhodiola and Pueraria were extracted by decocting. Three lipid peroxidation models were induced by Vc/Fe2+,CHP and NADPHADP/Fe2+. The 2 different extracts were added into the 3 models respectively to obtain the final concentrations of 25, 12.5, 6.25, 3.13, 1.56 mg/mL. Then the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) were examined for analyzing the antioxidative action of extracts in the Vc/Fe2+, CHP stimulated models. Oxygraph electrode was used to determine the inhibition rate of oxygen uptake in NADPHADP/Fe2+ model. RESULTS: In Vc/Fe2+ model, the 2 extracts showed the highest inhibition rate at the concentration of 6.25 mg/mL. In the CHP model, the content of MDA in groups with 3.13 to 25 mg/mL of Pueraria extract decreased significantly (P<0.05). In NADPHADP/Fe2+ model, the highest inhibition rates of the Rhodiola and Pueraria water extracts reached 43.07% and 75.09%. CONCLUSION: The 2 water extracts have good antioxidative effects. The Pueraria water extract has a comparatively stronger effect in the models in the presence of enzymes, conversely, Rhodiola water extract has a stronger effect in the models in the absence of enzymes. ......
