【Abstract】 AIM: To compare 2 kinds of technologies supercritical CO2 fluid extraction (SFECO2)and steam distillation(SD) in extracting essential oil from unripe forsythia suspensa based on the oilcollecting ratio and the content of βpinene as the indexes. METHODS: SFECO2 and SD were respectively applied to extract essential oil from the unripe forsythia suspensa by means of orthogonal design. The content of βpinene was determined in oil by gas chromatography (GC). RESULTS: By orthogonal design, average oilcollecting ratio was 3.40%(0.94%7.85%)for SFECO2, and 2.14%(1.01%3.58%)for SD; average content of βpinene was 6.72%(1.49%20.59%)for SFECO2, and 47.37%(30.99%65.75%)for SD. CONCLUSION: Compaired with SD, SPECO2 has a higher oilcollecting ratio, a lower content of βpinene, and a less pollution to the environment. However, SD costs less and is fitter for experiments. ......
