    【Abstract】 AIM: To compare 2 kinds of technologies supercritical CO2 fluid extraction (SFECO2)and steam distillation(SD) in extracting essential oil from unripe forsythia suspensa based on the oilcollecting ratio and the content of βpinene as the indexes. METHODS: SFECO2 and SD were respectively applied to extract essential oil from the unripe forsythia suspensa by means of orthogonal design. The content of βpinene was determined in oil by gas chromatography (GC). RESULTS: By orthogonal design, average oilcollecting ratio was 3.40%(0.94%7.85%)for SFECO2, and 2.14%(1.01%3.58%)for SD; average content of βpinene was 6.72%(1.49%20.59%)for SFECO2, and 47.37%(30.99%65.75%)for SD. CONCLUSION: Compaired with SD, SPECO2 has a higher oilcollecting ratio, a lower content of βpinene, and a less pollution to the environment. However, SD costs less and is fitter for experiments. ......
