【Abstract】 AIM: To investigate the changes of isolation rate and drug resistance pattern of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a universityaffiliated hospital, so as to provide reference for reasonable selection of antimicrobials. METHODS: The bacteria isolation was done by BACTEC9120 (BD company product) and antimicrobial susceptibility was evaluated by disk diffusion test (KB method). RESULTS: Isolation rates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were 16.2%, 15.5%, 15.2%, 13.9% respectively from the year 1999 to 2002, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was ranked the 2nd among the bacterias isolated. But it was ranked the 1st in 2003 and 2004 respectively accounting for 15.7%, 16.9%. The resistant rates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to many antimicrobial drugs were increased year by year. There were 11 antimicrobials to which the resistant rates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were lower than 30% in 2000, to IMP being 1.3%, CFS 2.7%, TZP 5.3%, FEP 5.8%, AMK 6.7%, CAZ 9.2%, CTX 11.2%, CIP 13.3%, LEV 14.6%, ATM 16.1%, CRO 18.3%. But there were only 5 antimicrobials to which the resistant rates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were lower than 30% in 2003, to CIP being 20.9%, AMK 22.4%, LEV 24.7%, IMP 27.3%, and CFS 28.7%. There was not any antimicrobial to which the resistant rates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were lower than 30%. CONCLUSION: The isolation rate and antimicrobial resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were high, with a increasing tendency. Surveillance of antimicrobial resistance of bacterias should be done for directing antimicrobial selection clinically. ......
